MakeLAB is a five-day programme engaging with computer-aided architectural design and fabrication experiments to explore new modes of design conception. Using Hooke Park’s forestry and workshop resources, the workshop offers the unique opportunity to explore innovative structures and methodologies at 1:1 scale.
This year the program will revolve around the theme ‘digital // physical growth’, creating an architectural material growth system that will adapt and evolve within the site. Aiming to produce a large scale, inhabitable structure, the process will use feedback loops between input data and architectural performance qualities to explore relationships between natural processes of formation and rule-based processes for architectural design.
The workshop will result a single collective project, assisted by specialist tutors from in and around the AA. The programme is open to architectural students, teachers and professionals interested in collaborative discussion and hands-on exploration of experimental design+build processes.
As the number of places for this workshop is limited, it is recommended to apply early. Applications can be submitted through the form at the Visiting School page following the link on the right of this page or by contacting the staff at the AA Visiting School office in London.
